Bloom where you are planted!

I read a quote and wanted to share it with you today. “Everything will work out exactly and when it’s supposed to, regardless of how and when you may want it to. Be patient with yourself and your growth, knowing that good things always take time. Give yourself time and space to try things and explore different paths. You will get there one day, so don’t forget to enjoy the journey too.” - Nikki Banas

Growth is a process. It reminds me of how much I love flowers but I always without a doubt kill them. I love them; they are so beautiful to me but I can’t seem to commit enough time and dedication to nurturing them enough to fully bloom. I had to really think about this as it relates to life and our own growth process. A seeds main identity comes from its design, but most importantly the growth process. In seed form it looks the same, it’s packaged the same, and you can only imagine what it will turn out to be based on the packaging. So we grab a pretty pot and some good soil and we plant it. Or better yet we take a piece of someone else’s beautiful flower because we can already identify with what it will become and we plant it in our own pot to bypass the difficult stage of growth.

I realized that it’s not about how decorative or expensive the pot may be. If we can compare it to ourselves, it’s not about how well you clean up, or how polished you look on the outside. The true revelation of growth lies beneath layers of dirt, disappointment, challenges, tears, struggles, generational curses, cycles, and a lot of stuff that we don’t even realize we are pushing through to change . A seed is such a tiny thing and we bury it beneath layers and layers of dirt and we pack it down on top of the seed with the expectation that it will break through and reveal something beautiful. A lot of times when we think about our own personal lives, the process is the part we want to skip.

It’s interesting because when you see the first sprout of a seed that you have planted it’s so delicate. Almost as if you touch it, you could break it. Have you ever thought about all of the layers it had to break through just to be seen by the eye? The reality is that a plant’s first sprout is not what we see. A plants first stage of growth is while it’s still covered in dirt. While it’s still hidden under layers it begins to bud and sprout. It’s sprouting and it is growing but it cannot be seen by the eye.

So this quote really caught my attention because it says “be patient with yourself and your growth”. Often times we beat ourselves up because we feel like we are investing in our growth and trying to change but because others cannot see the manifestation of our investment, or because we cannot see the revelation of what we expect to come out of our growth, we get tired. We stop nurturing the very thing that is developing under all of the layers. We don’t realize that the product that we expect to see in a short time is pushing through years and years of neglect, challenges, obstacles and all of this dirt that is lying on the top of our fancy pot. On the inside we are budding, and growing, and pushing, and stretching and that is the journey. The journey we cannot give up on. The journey we cannot stop nurturing and watering and caring for.

The scripture tells us in Galatians 6:9 “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up”. Growth and our journey take commitment, investment and intention. So the next time that the thought may cross your mind that it’s not even worth it to try to be different and better in a certain situation because the outside forces whatever or whomever it may be does not even acknowledge it. Think about the seed that’s budding and growing into something great under all those layers of dirt. Remember that your commitment is to the seed that was planted by God and the Journey to the Destiny that he has designed specifically for you. Remember that every great thing takes time and your journey is one to be explored and enjoyed! Remember that just because you cannot see it does not mean it is not manifesting. Remember that sometimes you have to let things die to make room for growth. Remember that each day that you are blessed to walk this earth is another opportunity to be better, stronger, wiser, and to continue on your journey.

Let’s Pray: Lord we thank you for today. We are thankful for life, no matter what it looks like; it’s another opportunity to walk in purpose. We thank you for the process of growth that is strengthening us, building us and maturing us for our journey. We thank you for the revelation that growth takes time and patience but even during our process we can trust and have faith that everything that you have for our lives will come to pass. We thank you for being with us in our growth process, pushing us, and guiding us along the way. Lord we honor you today for the seeds that you have planted in our spirit. Now Lord, help us to develop, grow and prosper everything that you have given us until its's manifestation according to your will for our lives. In Jesus name, Amen!
