The Crossover!

I have a message of encourage for you today. I’ve been studying about the Israelites crossing into the Promise Land. The story is so powerful because the crossing over came after a long journey of struggle, lack, disappointment, disobedience, frustration and uncertainty. However, when they crossed into the Promise Land it was moment to celebrate and commemorate the manifestation of Gods promise.

The scripture tells us that after they crossed over, God instructed each tribe to gather a stone from the middle of the Jordan River and place it on the land that they were given. The stones were to serve as a reminder to future generations that they crossed over the Jordan River on dry ground (Joshua 4). The stones not only represented victory, but it also represented promise and a God who is a promise keeper. Most importantly, the stones were a clear indication to those that would endure trials in their life, that no matter what it looks like, the power of God is real and no obstacle is too hard for God.

Today’s message is to keep pushing and keep believing, because Gods promises are true. This year has been trying for many of us in many different areas of our lives. Some of you may have lost jobs, income and opportunities. Some may have lost family or loved ones. Others may have been impacted by the loss of touch and connection with loved ones and friends due to social distancing. Some may have experienced firsthand COVID19. No matter what your experience has been, I want you to know that God is in control.

The story is so good because before we get to the Jordan River in Joshua 4, we have to go back to Genesis 12. In the scripture in Genesis, God told Abraham to leave his country and the people, places and things that he was comfortable with in order to get to purpose and Destiny that he could not see. The promise to Abraham was that his descendants would inherit the Promise Land. Before the Jordan River, the Israelites had to endure slavery, they had to endure 40 years in the wilderness and on the final stretch they stood at the bank of the Jordan River within eyesight of the promise, without the ability to cross over.

I don’t know how many of you feel as though this is your story. You have endured many challenges in your life. This year alone has been one of the roughest years that you have had to push through. You’ve experienced closed doors, missed opportunities, loss, feelings of hopelessness and helplessness. I have a message for you today similar to the message that God gave the Israelites as they stood on the other side of the promise. First follow the presence of God. Secondly, when you feel his presence in your spirit and speaking to your heart; move. The scripture said when the Ark of the Covenant moved to the middle of the River the Israelites were given instruction to move in “haste” (quickly).

God is using this season of our lives to prepare us for our purpose and Destiny. Don’t waste this quarantine time, quite time, period of isolation to sit in what you loss. Use it to prepare for what you are getting ready to gain. The promise that God has in store for you was spoken before your creation. Those missed opportunities, closed doors, realignment of priorities are all for your good. Be encouraged, keep pressing and get ready for the promise God has for your life. When it comes in order to commemorate your victory you can’t stay stuck in past disappointments you have to move quickly into the promise.

Prayer: Lord we thank you for everything. Thank you for every moment, breath, and word that you have used to speak to our spirit. Thank you for the good and the bad, for we know your word says “all things work together for our good”. Now Lord we ask that you give us the strength to keep pushing, keep trusting and keep believing for greater. In the name of Jesus we pray Amen.
